How about posting your "I've achieved - finally - a respectable handlebar" moment.

Mine came today while working outside putting white steel on a building. My 'stache now casts it own shadow!



I was cutting a piece of steel when out of the corner of my eye my handlebar mustache made its presence known.

I had used a glue stick for the first time today, just playing around as I don't normally do anything but wash and comb it. Now I'll have to be styling it more often.

Here's a couple of straight on shots. Since I have white hair and a ghostly palor I have to take side shots for it to show.

I am not sure when my moment was. I think around what you see in my avatar - when I could finally wax the tips into a respectable curl. These days I usually go for a more relaxed swoop than curls, however.

I would love to see more stache shadows... anyone?

I won't go so far as to say I've made it...but I will say that today I decided the mo' is definitely making headway. Gave it a good wash/conditioning/combing last night and went to bed with it loose. This morning was moderately fearful of what was going to greet me in the mirror...lo and behold....what greeted was me a fairly respectable loose young handlebar. He had settled right back pretty much into place all on his own and the ends even had a bit of a swoop along the lines I've been curling.

Quick comb through and I was ready for the day without wax - no sense getting too fancy on the weekend.

I say I owe it all to a visit I made to the local Lush shop for samples of conditoners I read about on here - have tried the Retread and the R&B. Both have their places in the arsenal and the 'stache feels much softer/silkier - and is better behaved -now. Only problem with the products from Lush is they are fairly fragrant but
cures that in a few minutes. (less the topper of course)

I get that when I stand in front of the projector at work (school!).

Lol, that's certainly a way to get everyone to notice it.

My moment came when I started getting enthusiastic compliments from people at work, and then, of course, winning the contest Nov 2011.
