Does waxing before bedtime help train the curl? Is that why it's done?

If I don't wax I look, to quote a friend "like a drowned rat!" Plus I can't eat. Or drink. Or brush my teeth with it unwaxed. Usually stays decent looking after a nights sleep if I'm in a hurry. Otherwise it gets washed and conditioned when I shower.

While I have a natural curl, I've found that if I sleep with glue stick on it - which dries rock hard - the curl is better behaved the next morning even if I wash out the glue stick. Acts like sleeping in curlers. And the glue stick never deforms even if slept on. I rarely use actual wax, which could get deformed if you roll over on it, but that could be fixed in the morning.

I'm not aware of glue stick. I'm assuming this is a product I can find online.

No need, just go to an office supply store, walmart, craft store - I get mine at a dollar store in a pack of three. Super cheap. I recommend Avery glue stick (white or purple) or UHU in purple. Other brands may work fine, but beware of odd scents.

Check out my blog for several articles about using glue and glue stick, and search this forum for my posts on glue stick.

Here's a video I did.

I wax in the morning after I shower. I have never waxed at night, except for rare occasions of a night out with the Mrs. My curls stay pretty well intact for the most part. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I don't wax in the evening either; but neither do I remove the wax from the morning. I don't use much wax though and a night on the pillow and a morning shower and my moustache is pretty much wax-free. My moustache easily finds its shape again when I apply wax after my shower - is it training, is it sleeping with a waxed moustache? Hard to say.

Tried out the glue stick today. It worked great! I used some Clubman (because I like the way it smells) on the rest of the stache and the glue on the ends. Terrific and thank you!

Glad you like it. Experiment. You can do a lot of things with the glue stick.

I'm a bit hesitant to sleep with actual wax on it as I wouldn't want it to get on the pillow case and thence my face. Wax often has petrolatum in it, too.

My morning shower pretty much washes everything - glue usually - out so I start completely clean every day.

I do not fresh wax before bed. Reasons vary, but mostly the wax will get on the pillow case and therefore my face. I am a back sleeper, but when the snoring gets intolarable, SWMBO will nudge me over. As I tend to shower in the AM, I am used to sleeping with wax in, and that works too. When using the glue, the glue will get washed out before bed (its REALLY easy).

Hope this helps.
