"A Handlebar Moustache is indeed a glorious facial hair feature. Whether it stands alone or crowns some other form of facial hair, the glory comes from it being a 'Handlebar' and not simply an ordinary moustache." - Schnauzer

With my hat on as member of The British Beard Club (it's OK - it is a relevant query!) I pass this enquiry (US - inquiry) from a prospective TBBC member/HBC Friend on to you for for your consideration. This developing Handlebar Moustached reader asks:

Hi, I'm growing a long goatee with a handle bar moustache, could you advise me of any barbers shops in London or Brighton that could cut some shape in it for me; as I don't want to cut it myself as I may ruin all my hard work. Thanks
Any suggestions? Although I live here, I've never had my beard trimmed in Brighton, so I have no direct-experience recommendation, but others may have?

David

Michael or Phillip at Trumpers in Duke of York Street (off Jermyn Street) in London. They know what they're doing, and all the best beards and taches go there so they have plenty of experience.
They are two very different characters, but I doubt you'll find finer.
I'd appreciate to know if anyone else has a favourite place!

Thanks David (irezumi) for your comments, which I have passed on to the Enquirer.

It's an interesting one. I asked them once how it is that they know what they are doing and others don't. One has straight forward barbering experience in Stevenage, not the nicest town, a little north of London. The other came to Trumpers from ladies hairdressing. He said that he got no specific training in beard styling, but that you just have to understand how hair works. So, while you're not going to get a brilliantly styled beard in any old hole in the wall barbers, I do think that if you ask around you might find someone who can help.

I've heard Trumpers is very good too. I plan on going there pretty soon to treat myself to a proper shave and I'll let you know the outcome.
