"A Handlebar Moustache is indeed a glorious facial hair feature. Whether it stands alone or crowns some other form of facial hair, the glory comes from it being a 'Handlebar' and not simply an ordinary moustache." - Schnauzer

Moderator's Note: The following posts were split from the "Let's see your Handlebar (moustache)" Topic, as they merited a separate Topic to host the discussion and any further opinions.

So I just wanted some of your opinions,
by no means is it a handlebar or even a stache yet.

This is 4 weeks, (I've never had much facial hair, and almost none on my philtrum)
do you think there is any chance of it turning into something? I figured if I don't trim or shave for 4/6 months it might.
Thanks Everyone.

I was the same way, I have never had much facial hair until this. Boom 10 months and its 8.75 inches tip to tip. I suggest six months minimum is the wait time for handling. Weird as it sounds, the less you mess, the better it gets. I am regrowing mine (see here and here for the back story if you wish), and am into it 60 days. I have been combing the middle after the shower and otherwise leaving it alone. SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) is still not a fan yet as its a bit course, but she is supporting me for now. Again, the last one I had, I started messing around with at day 100 or so. I LOVED doing that but as I wear glasses in my back pocket (hind sight 20/20) it was not necessarily a good thing. So if you can stand it, don't mess with it too much until 6 mo (180 days).

Just my two cents as I am a regrower! It will fill in, give it time and love (love is all you need).

Kell

Everyone's hair grows in different ways at different rates. Patience and self-validation are key. Even a thin moustache can look great with a bit of wax. You are unique. Hang in there. I saw a picture of a young man with a sparse, blonde moustache that still looked great. Rock YOUR stache YOUR way! See my sig quote below. Against stiff competition (yes, a pun) I won a $1000 contest with my moustache this month because of how I presented myself! Booyah!

My moustache achieved full growth in the middle (no hairs with cut ends) at 6 months. It's 17 mos now and seems the curls may have capped out also. Patience - and don't trim.
