The NFL team, Jacksonville Jaguars is having a "ready to rise rally" 17 Jan, 2011 at 6:00 local. As the new owner of the Jags has a hirsute appendage of the upper lip with graspable extremities (and a couple billion dollars), there is a moustache contest. I will be entering, and this will be my first one. I am keeping the fingers crossed, and hope you do too. I will broadcast results. But before that, here is a photo of the new owner and the link for the rally with info. ready to rise rally

You know what, this time I am full fledged team attire, but if they do another one, the zebra angle may not be such a bad idea!!! Thanks, wallawall! You West Coast folks sure do come up with some great ideas! Is it cold there yet?

Low of around 20 high around 38 not to bad Great football weather(indoor on TV). Coming from Las Vegas NV. it has been a nice change. WWR

Results.... as it was a crowd noise contest (called a Khan-test), naturally, I was introduced first and finished last! LOL! I lost to a 10 year old boy with a fake mo. Not much I could have done. Here is the piece from one of our local news stations, there are a lot of fakies, but Khan's was in full glory. My opinion of Khan's stache is at 35 seconds in. On a side note, the Holcombe brothers who live here in Jacksonville, were on hand, but did not arrive early enough to register. You may remember these fellows as the 2009 WBMC 3rd place English moustache winner and 2nd place Freestyle moustache winner. Overall, I had a great time, even losing to a 10 year old (the fix was in). Damn this "everyone-gets-a-trophy-so-your-self-esteem-doesn't-get-shattered" mentality.

Anything that gets more people enthusiastic about handlebar moustaches is a good thing if you ask me. I watched the video. It looked like a good time

I will agree that anything to promote a positive thought on the moustache is a good thing. Still do not like losing to FAKE MO's. Anyway, here is a gallery of pics from the moustache "Khan-test" as taken by the local newspaper. Enjoy!

It seems to me that the whole event was more about making people feel good, trophies for all, a 10 year old winning etc... Still I guess in an area of such poverty this is probably what was needed! Those poor girls... they can barely afford any clothes at all!
Kellum, you are a gentleman for doing your part in relieving the plight of those poor maidens. I doff my hat to you sir.

I know how you feel, Kellum. The first year of the Mustachio Bashio - 2010 - the final ten were picked by six judges and the winner was decided by crowd applause and a man with a highly styled beard and so so moustache won. I complained before the next contest and they changed the rules so the crowd applause picked the final ten and a panel of four judges with real criteria decided the three winners. I won first prize in 2011.
Some event organizers are ignorant of what Kahn-tests can result in, but let it go. You are a winner here.
