"A Handlebar Moustache is indeed a glorious facial hair feature. Whether it stands alone or crowns some other form of facial hair, the glory comes from it being a 'Handlebar' and not simply an ordinary moustache." - Schnauzer

The month formerly known as November is nearly here. There's a 6' long handlebar moustache hanging over the door the the students' union. I considered shaving my beard off and letting the 'tache go solo, but I'm not sure I'd do it. However, I'm not going to start the month clean shaven. Since many of us have spent years on our pride and joys, do any of you do anything visible for Movember (besides donating, which you can do whether you have a 'tache or not.)

Hello old friends ...

I always feel like the prodigal son as I return to this forum after a long absence ... I end up shaving off the 'tache and then whither away from the camaraderie that exists here. I apologize to you all if you find it at all off-putting that I engage in this behavior.

I've been without the 'tache since April of 2010. I shaved, as I often do, when the 'tache becomes a distraction to my marathon training ... especially noticed on long training runs once the weather gets warm.

So, being clean shaven, I can now participate in the Movember fund raising without needing to shave off months and months of growth. So I come to you at the beginning of that endeavor. Should any of you wish to contribute to the fund raising efforts for raising awareness and funds to combat Prostate Cancer, a killer of men, but don't feel you want to shave of your own 'tache to participate ... I hope you'll consider donating via my participation.

And here ... for those of you needing verification is the starting picture:

Hey, Dr. B-Dogs, Ed. D,

Glad you are back, man! Hopefully you'll keep the stache this time!

We've missed your witticisms.

Cheers, bud, and WELCOME BACK!

Allen, the lowly MS in Ed.

Funny ...

I love the 'stache, but consistently get to a place where it becomes a distraction. It really is a pull from both directions. When I've gotten to that point of "needing" to shave it off, I now realize that it's a certainty to return. So I don't know that I'll ever "keep" it. We'll see.

How has your journey been, Allen?

Hey Troy,

Nice to see you on the forum again. Most will agree you have a primo 'stache - hope to see it again.

Cheers,

Bob

Well, Troy, I thought that you'd post up - at some point. Just remember that all three ladies love your 'stache; and, you don't need it to post in the forum. As Allen stated, your comments are always appreciated.

I have combined all the threads called Movember - let's keep to one topic for this.

Thanks David!

Update:
I'm just shy of the $1,000 USD mark in my fund raising. Of the nearly 45,000 registered participants in the U.S., I currently rank 88th. My goal is to try and make the top 10 fund raisers. Even if you're unable to donate ... let's face it, times are tough and we all have to be very selective with our donations from the household budget ... it would mean a lot to me if you'd visit my page and at least give it a 5 Mustache Rating. As I collect more ratings, my profile moves closer to the front page where I can gain a bit more exposure ... thereby justifying some corporate requests I've made.

The link:

You can rate me as often as you'd like ... but may need to find various ISP addresses to do it from. (I've been able to rate at various spots using WiFi with my phone).

Much appreciated,
BD

I hadn't heard of anything called Movember 'till my sister in the UK phoned me about it, but I know at least in Rhode Island there's something going 'round called No-Shave November.

That's it for another year, so look after your health my Mo brothers.

I really enjoyed this year's campaign slogan and advertising.
