"A Handlebar Moustache is indeed a glorious facial hair feature. Whether it stands alone or crowns some other form of facial hair, the glory comes from it being a 'Handlebar' and not simply an ordinary moustache." - Schnauzer

Who are your favourite moustache wearing heroes or ambassadors? My wife has just told me that she used to have a bit of a crush on Tom Sellick in Three Men and a Baby - not a handlebar admittedly but not a bad moustache. She is also a huge Poirot fan so maybe she is a secret moustache fancier...! Now that is a tache to be proud of.

Brandon Flowers of The Killers definitely made the moustache a bit more fashionable - and yes, she likes him too...!

I would have to cast my vote in that direction, as well. Elliott sports what I consider to be the quintessential example of a moustache (notwithstanding that it doesn't present itself as a handlebar in its many incarnations). Although I had seen him appear in various television show's episodes, the first time that I remember this actor really standing out was in the film adaptation of Louis L'Amour's 'The Quick and the Dead' with his trademark 'stache (Kate Capshaw, as usual, was look'n pretty darn good in that film). His 'stache in Tombstone was absolutely outstanding, as well; and, I think the only one of the four (Doc and the Earps) not as a handlebar.

Sadly, Mr Suchet's version consists entirely of stick-on taches!!

Present day - Rainer Frech and Wolfgang Schneider, both world champions in their respective categories.
Last century - Lord Kitchener.

I agree, Kate Capshaw was most captivating by water's edge.

Lord Kitchener, without a doubt.

Later on in Nietzsche's life for the 19th C., I guess - if we're going back that far. I love this man's moustache.

I actually own a coffee mug adorned with famous moustaches, all of which are numbered. On the bottom of the mug, each number corresponds with a historical figure (Nietzsche, Dali, Twain, etc.). Any time I need inspiration from a "moustache hero," I just need to take a sip of coffee.

Heck,I need a Mug like that one....
I can't think of a name of a actor, but want to reply to this thread, so thus far
my reply would be Salvidor Dali....his art lives forever in my heart.....RP

This is both true and exceptionally disappointing. Much as I love Poirot, his moustache goes from about passable to dire depending on breaks in filming/ the episode. I won't even begin to draw attention to the massacre Peter Ustinov attempted of Aggie's finest.

I never really liked Poirot's stache either, to be honest. Too uppity and fake-looking. (I know, it WAS fake).

I would agree with Sam Elliott. Tombstone is a great movie for moustaches!

Edward Elgar. I like his music, it makes me feel proud to be British.

Oh, Micawber. I have just added on to my list of heroes. Elgar, definitely. Actually I like his more than Kitchener's. More civilized. And I love Elgar's music, too.
