Could somebody tell me who the members of the WBMC jury will be? I just wondered: if they are organising HBC members they are then automatically excluded from competition, aren't they?
Thanks for clarification.

I will not be competing in Anchorage due to the fact that I will be working with some past judges of our competitions here to select judges for 2009.
We are allowing those in our club who do wish to compete to stay out of the judge selection commitee. I can tell you that being local is no sure in for placing in competition here. Judges we have had are very picky. I know that personaly. Our judges like to walk right up and look you in the eye, so make sure every hair is in place.

We are not intending to have any members of the organising committee on the jury, so all members can enter if they so wish. However I suspect that most if not all of us will be too busy to take part.
At present we have a number of local and national celebrities who have generously given some of their valuable time in order to try to raise as much money as possible for our two charities. Obviously 'our celebrities' will probably be unknown to our overseas visitors but if they can attract more paying spectators then that will be very helpful. To date we have sold over 700 spectator tickets to the general public and hope to increase that number significantly. We have two national TV companies interested in running a piece prior to the event but as we all know it depends on what other news 'breaks'. Over the years we have been in the Green Room before a live broadcast on more than one occasion, only for our slot to be pulled because something else more important crops up! Oh well that's live TV for you!!!!!
David Traver- I hope you would do us the honour of being part of our pre-jury.

Whoa! What's the maximum capacity of the venue, then?

In this particular configuration the Main Hall at the Brighton Centre is capable of holding (legally) 3,000 people.
At concerts there are regularly 5,000 in the audience.

Ooops! Should have made it clearer that the 5,000 is also legal just a different configuration.

David,
During the morning prior to the contest every contestant presents before the pre-jury. The pre-jury is made up of guys from the Beard and Moustache community. The idea is to make sure that each entrant has entered into the correct class. There are always a number of people who enter contests for the first time and this gives them a chance either to adjust their facial hair or be entered into a different class. For Example if someone has entered a 'natural' class but has waxed their facial hair, they can either wash it out or re-enter in a styled class thus avoiding disqualification. All contests that I have been to have had some form of pre-jury although in Carson City it was very informal if you remember, carried out whilst we were waiting for the parade to start.
I thought you might welcome the opportunity to experience this part, first hand as you are organising the next big one.
Hope this clears things up.

I understand, we have the similar procedure at our events here in
Anchorage. Yes I will be happy to do it and thank you for the opportunity.
