Indeed. Subject to administrative approval, there may be something forthcoming similar to Moustache May. Except, rather than a daily theme schedule for a one month period, it would be a weekly theme over a one or two month period - eight themes in aggregate. The themes being optional but more fun when everyone plays along. It would not be a competition - there are no wins recorded; there's no Hall of Lame. The idea being that everyone is given a chance to submit a photo in keeping with the week's theme and in an attempt to be creative and humourous.

I must say the people who did last year may also be doing it on flickr, since the site ended. We should join them ! It is incredible fun. And the people from Moustache May are the greatest.

I could say, as it is not may yet, we could just post fun artistic photos with the handlebar as the main "focus" of the picture.

Other nice thing we could do is the person who posts would suggest a new theme -not challenge- as : Music, portrait, formal wear, hats, sports and etc. And that at least 2 people take the theme, that way is more fun.

I admire your enthusiasm. The topic is simply an idea and hasn't been finalised. It's under discussion and subject to approval by the Administrator. If approved, ideas for weekly themes will be solicited from the Forum in advance and a schedule posted prior to commencing, likely March to April.

I think the idea of a Handlebar Club Forum Weekly Theme Game is an excellent one, and should be more involving and less clamourous and acrimonious that the previous first-past-the-post Picture Game. I suggest that Schnauzer post the skeleton rules at the start of a new topic.

Note that as a result of your participation in this new game, your moustache may (DING!) re-appear en-theme in a special photo-gallery created to record all the results.

Perhaps we should wait a few weeks (?) until the northern hemisphere's winter weather is past its peak so that more inventive outdoor themes can be suggested? Comments?

I agree, weekly themes are better since the people from the forum could get more time to participate. I know there are old forum users out there with little time, that given a well organized game they will try to join the fun. And the new ones, seeing a great way to socialize.

Why not make the weather a theme? And there's certainly a lot of possibilities indoors, demonstrated by Dannz.

There are holidays every month also that could be a theme, including those of other countries.

Another popular Internet photo game is Photo Tag. Typically it involves going to a Location taking a photo and giving a hint as to where it is. The other players then need to find the location and take a similar photo.

This would not work out on the Handlebar Moustache forum of course because we all live so far away from each other.
It could be fun to do a variation of this game by setting up a picture and having players replicate the photo. Like a copy cat sort of thing.

If your going to administrate to game and want to go this direction perhaps you could ask people to PM you photo ideas or photos to be imitated, you could then post the week's them in an organized way. keeping the thread neat and tidy. People would then reply with pictures and perhaps be given a small window of time at the end of each week to leave comments. or you could rearrange the week's photos in to a separate thread.

I'm not sure exactly what the rules should be but having played many similar games I can tell you from experience that 1. the game should have an end. Such as after a given date or number of completed photos. With out an ending the thread gets old and stale and becomes lame. Your one week theme seams like a good way to go.
2. each given photo assignment should have a deadline. Without a deadline the given project will never be complete because; any project will expand it self to fill as much time as you have. If you have an infinite amount of time the project will continue to expand for ever.

This is just a brainstorming level idea and is in no way intended to be the structure for your new thread / game. Take from my what you will. Whatever you do I'll play.

OMG bentpipe you are a master at that. Your Rockwell take-off especially is excellent. I think we should leave this game you suggest entirely to you as the sole participant and submit pictures for you to replicate on your own.

Re deadlines for responses in games, I don't think that would work so great. We seem to participate well as it is, depending on what is going on for us.

I think the best thing to do is to keep it fun, funny and creative. Did you see mrdjthc's response in the picture game with the clothes pins/pegs? Hillarious. And Gunner's dinner scene? Great. I would like to see more clowning like that.
