"A Handlebar Moustache is indeed a glorious facial hair feature. Whether it stands alone or crowns some other form of facial hair, the glory comes from it being a 'Handlebar' and not simply an ordinary moustache." - Schnauzer

So, what hairstyle works best with a handlebar? Or is it that anything goes?

you need a haircut that is well groomed and that is worthy of your mustache

Yes, it does suit you.

I have had a crew cut, but have never gone the full bowling-ball look. I have very fine hair, so I'm worried about looking like a nuclear fallout victim if I ever decided to grow it back.

At the moment I have long hair, and only the scruffy beginnings of a handlebar. So I guess they are both equally unworthy. :?

According to my observation, people are only able to notice one facial feature. If you have funny glasses, that's all they remember about you. If you have eccentric hair, that'll be your defining feature. If you sport a moustache in addition, people will only comment on the moustache. Don't be surprised if your acquaintances don't recognize you after you shave off your moustache.

So basically, as regards hairstyles, anything goes because all the attention will be focused on your moustache anyway.
