German International Open Beard and Moustache Championship - 20 to 22 April 2012 in Bad Schussenried, hosted by Hoefener Beard and Moustache Club.

Bad Schussenried is a small "monastery town" and holiday resort in Upper Swabia. The venue is the rustic and ambient "Bierkrugstadel' (beer stein barn), once the malting room of Schussenrieder Brewery and now a gallery space to host events with capacity for 350 people. There are also planned tours of the beer stein museum and brewery.

Club registration closes March 31, 2012

Yes, but I've already given the highlights above and I'll post more as more information becomes available.

Here's the quick and dirty:

Welcoming event Friday 7:00pm with music and frivolity.

The main event is Saturday; doors open 11:00am; followed by registration and a pre-judging from noon to 1:30pm; championship starts at 2:30pm; entertainment starts 8:30pm and ends when the last person leaves.

Saturday 10 am and Sunday a tour of the brewery and beerstein museum before departure.

Contact Wolfgang Stier of the Hoefener club for more information and registration.

Here's a link to the website of the host club that is organising this competition. At this time the information is only available in German.

Once you've accessed the site's home page, click on 'DM 2012' at the top, or 'BART - DM 2012' at the left. Either of these will take you to a page with tabs to: Rules and conditions of participation (Teilnahmebedingungen); Participant Registration, (Teilnahme); Programme (Programm); Travel (Anreise); and Accommodation (Übernachtung).

The deadline for club registrations is March 31, 2012 and registration forms may be mailed or faxed. Last minute individual registrations will be accepted Saturday April 21 until noon. Cost is 25 Euros in cash, presumably at registration on Saturday.

From yesterday's competition, a record participation. Great handlebars all 'round, but Schneider continues to reign supreme.
