Hello chaps,
I'm new here but have found the handlebar club site very helpful in my tash growing endeavor.
I was wondering (as a non member) would it be ok to come down to the Windsor Castle to say hi on friday evening. And enjoy an ale no doubt.
Noel.

Hello Noel
I'm sure you'll be made very welcome, and you may even be persuaded to join the club!
David

Oh dear! I am sorry about that, Noel. I didn't know it was "cancelled" either!
I think "they" are at the European Beard Championships 2008 organised by Bart und Kulture Club in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany.
I guess someone forgot to tell me (as webmaster) that the First Friday for this last weekend was cancelled. I'd have thought there would have been someone from the club there at the pub, though. Not all the London members would have been going to Germany.
I couldn't be there this time for other reasons.
I do hope you're not too discouraged, and will try again another month.
David

Actually, I don't think that the meeting was actually cancelled, David. The HBC members who were in Germany were under the impression that the Windsor Castle meeting was to go ahead anyway, as there were still a fair number of other Friday regulars who weren't going to be crossing the Channel. It rather sounds as if things just got a bit confused.

Has anyone heard anything about the Windsor Castle being up for sale? I saw an advert on an online estate agents website saying the lease was up?

Welcome jamiewelham
I presume you mean the pub and not that little place out in Berkshire. Leases expire and can be renewed/extended for a further term. I shouldn't read anything into that. That's not to say the owner isn't selling. I wouldn't know. Either way, it's between landlord and tenant and, with respect, IMHO best not discussed here.

Hello Noel
Unable to reply on your query re meeting. I have however been curious to know whether you made it to Andorra and how the 'tache held up under snowsport conditions. Also, any news on the professional portrait you had taken last year?

Ahh thanks for being so attentive to my posts. Andora was good. It was pretty sunny though so no icy tash pics. i did how ever take fake tashes (a christmas gift) along so all my friends could have one. one of these friends found this: http://www.beardhead.com/
maybe for next year
as for the portrait im glad you remembered that... i have let lit lie too long and in fact was recently talking about chasing up a copy. tut tut.
As it happens i made it down on friday and met the guys that were there and i am now proud to say im an official member of your fine club

Hi Sorry guys...
I cant make it down to the Windsor tonight. Its a shame as it would have been my first meeting as a proper member ( last time i went i joined on the night). Im sure there will be lots of WBMC chat and id really like to meet more of you chaps.
however, the reason for my absence is tash related.
At the last meeting i met Jake and Ian and Tom and Richard. And as a result was put in touch with Rokas Darulis, a photographer looking for mustached men. His exhibition opens tonight and im going down to pick up a copy of my photo. They look so good.
check out his site. There are a few HBC members on show.

Great photos all. The fifth photo was taken at angle that has me wondering. Is that you in the flat cap and hair cut (since your Avatar)? I'm recalling your earlier image posting - strong man etc and can't be certain. In any case, post the photo when you have a chance. I expect it to be a winner.

Thats right , thats me.
I have indeed had a hair cut and the tash got a trim at the same time but i think its getting back to its old length. Im really pleased with the picture and the fact that i was given a print. Also there was a lot of good work on show at the exhibition. If any one has time to check it out i would recommend it. Still no word from the other guy who took my picture. i may chase it up...

Dashing chap! Now, run out and buy yourself an Austin Healey to complement the look. The print is a treasure that I trust will be hung in pride of place. Thanks for posting.
