David Ah, ok. Please pardon my cluelessness, I had never seen the word outside of the context of an Aphex Twin song.

Yep, Uhu stick (aka Yankee for Pritt stick) holds up well. No damage from coffee either.

Hi tatooer: there is an old one of me in the "let's see your mustache" page. It isn't a very good picture. I need to post a new one.

I can recommend the Search link in the header strip to make this type of thing easier for you... Entering 'apw1970' in the Author field brings up two pages of results, one of which is the topic you want, and clicking on that brings up the right page, but not the actual post, which you have to scroll down to. Might save a bit of time...
David

White beeswax, and Petroleum jelly..... I have made the mix , its a bit stiff, so I need for petroleum jelly, just a little. After I get that mix to where it isn't so stiff on application, I am going to experiment with a little color. My mo, is not as dark as my hair, and I want it a bit darker,so it shows off better....take care bro.....Russell

I have gone back to Oregon Wild Hair for now. I say for now, because I am almost out of it and want to try Handlbars. The guy who makes it lives only 20 minutes from my house. The glue stick is still handy for emergencies, however, and since I am a teacher, there are always plenty of glue sticks around.

I use glue stick almost exclusively. I found UHU is good but Avery glue stick is easier to re-moisten and smooth if clumps form. Avoid 3M glue as it is very gummy.
I can't say how glue stick works in a humid climate as I live in a dry desert, but it works great for me. In fact, even if you don't like it for day, wear it at night to put your stache in "curlers" so it behaves better the next day. I've slept in it and had no damage the next morning.
It does wash out easily so if you style it and mess up you can start over. Best is it takes me just a couple minutes to apply and dry and I am out the door if need be. I can change my style daily with this glue. Real wax takes longer to apply and remove and I can't do nearly as much with it. It does wash out easily except where you have more in the curls. It takes a few minutes to come all out in the shower.
While a heavier application may last better in rain, moderate to light amounts will not survive getting wet, but the good thing is when you get where you are going three minutes in the men's room and you are back in business. You can even change style in a jiffy if you like. When I am going to eat, especially with others, I can on short notice style it up tighter out of the way of my mouth so it's less likely to get food in it.
Pay attention that you apply it evenly. It will go on creamy so you can comb it to where you want it. Then as it dries it becomes tacky. That's when you pat and shape and curl. It will dry with only very slight tackiness in a humid climate. If you get flakes or crumbs you can smooth them out with a damp finger, but use only the slightest bit of water.
Beware paper napkins and facial tissue. Carry a white cotton cloth handkerchief for patting dry and blowing your nose. But even the waxes I've used were too friendly with paper and became linted up.
Glue stick holds better in hot weather, but the hold may be affected in humid weather or in cooler weather where your breath will condense on your moustache and soften the glue (you might need to go with real wax in cold weather). It has none of the slight greasiness like I had with waxes. That may be more appealing to your honey for kissing and kinder to your pillow case for sleeping.

I tried some glue stick (a Tesco brand very similar to Pritt/UHU) today. I admit to being sceptical at first, but it's worked an absolute treat! I won't repeat the benefits that Eric has mentioned before, but I agree. A revelation. Thanks for planting the wacky, but inspired idea in my head Eric!

Great Matt, glad to help.
If anyone tries other brands of glue stick please comment about them so others can benefit.
By the way, UHU white smells strange so use the purple for that brand.

I've been thinking and I'm slightly concerned about long-term daily use of glue stick. My fears may be totally unfounded, but I'll probably stick with Mr Taylor's Moustache Wax ( http://www.tayloroldbondst.co.uk/acatal ... ustacheWax) for the most part as it provides soft, yet well-managed styling, conditions the hair (apparently!) and smells sublime. It's what I used the last time I has a moustache and I've still got plenty left. This actually may work very well for me as I'm beginning to really appreciate the more natural look. The glue stick will always be handy for taming the odd disobedient hair or two though.

The glue I use is nontoxic and acid-free and washes out completely with plain water. My stache hair is in great condition. Everyone will have their preferences for whatever reasons.
