Hmm... maybe this whole thing just has to do with hair growth cycles? I am currently in a phase where I would say that my moustache is equally full on both sides, however the tips are rather different lengths. The right tip is significantly longer than the left. This is really only noticeable when I do tight curls, but it is irritating. I actually trimmed about 1-2 mm off the right tip last week because the imbalance was driving me crazy. I was careful not to take off too much and the right side is definitely still longer... just enough to make the imbalance in the curls seem less. I'm guessing the left side will have its own growth spurt again and I could just wait for it to catch up (and it probably didn't make any difference to anyone but me), but I was too impatient

I have not tr*mmed the centre for over a year now and it seems to have hit terminal length As far as my tips, I have made tiny alterations only twice. And then, it was so little that I am sure I am the only one who noticed the difference, but it did make me feel better - and that's what handlebar moustaches are all about, right? Feeling good

I believe one can trim the tips for proper shaping or symmetry. I never trim a squirrely stray hair unless it's all crazy bent and seems like it will never behave. Often stray hairs will not be straying the next day.
My right curl seems to grow longer, my left is fuller - at least at this point.
I did trim my curls just before the contest in November because I didn't want full circles, which I get when waxed/glued solid. I cut off about an inch. (screams of horror from the audience). I don't like full circles for myself, but I also rarely glue the curls up solid so not really an issue. I like an open curl glued into place.

My left side has always been fuller and better behaved. My right side seems a little thinner and usually requires a little more wax than the left, otherwise it tries to split into 2 curls instead of 1.
Every few moneths when the length difference gets noticable I have to trim a couple of mm off the left side or it looks daft. Its so strange we all seem to be experiencing the same thing

Ditto. Fuller, faster, better behaved on the left. How utterly bizarre! Faces aren't symmetrical of course - but this is exactly the sort of thing that bothers me, even if no-one else notices.

I have never mentioned it, but I also find that the right half of the left side of my moustache has some tendency to grow toward the right, as if I should part it half way out the left. Odd.
