"A Handlebar Moustache is indeed a glorious facial hair feature. Whether it stands alone or crowns some other form of facial hair, the glory comes from it being a 'Handlebar' and not simply an ordinary moustache." - Schnauzer

Hello everybody. I've been looking around on this forum for a while, but I couldn't find any topics on moustache colouring. Some people dye their moustache to cover up gray hair, others because they're just a bit dandy (I think metrosexual is a newer word for it). At any rate, I am personally not satisfied with my natural colour (between blonde and light brown) because it just won't go with my plans to develop a full-blown Dalí. So I thought, what's a better place to ask for advice than an expert forum like this.

So far I've been using hair dye, but the interval of dealing with root growth is much longer on hair than moustache, so my 'stash tends to grow out. Moreover, it's a bit harsh on lips and mouth. I've found very mixed reviews of beard and moustache products on the Internet, so any personal experience is much appreciated.

Have a look through the Wax's section.

A temporary colouring method I use is to mix Beezwax, Vaseline, and colored crayon together. The food dye in the Crayon makes for a wash out colour option. I go for dark brown.

I too would like some colour. My moustache is blond-turning-grey, so some colour would help define it a bit.

Would Wacky Tacky add any colour to a light coloured 'tache like mine?

Good idea about the crayons, but I'm guessing that crayons are just wax and food colouring. So why not just add food colouring?

Crayon or food colouring, would it be rainproof? (Not that I've seen much rain lately! :? )

Cheers,

Guz

wacky tacky darken my reddish stache alittle and the Firehouse dark gets it alittle darker than the wacky. I usually use alittle of each in my stache

here's a link where I get my moustache dying:

It's in french, but it's easy to understand. You'll find there dying especially for moustache and beard, in several colours.

Thanks for that. Looks good.

I did a search and found an international site here....
http://www.justformen.com/products/faci ... lor5.shtml

They don't have a web shop, but they do have email addresses for a number of countries including the UK and Australia, but unfortunately not Finland.

Quote from their website: "Just For Men® targets only the gray hair for a natural look, leaving your non-gray hairs alone. The result is haircolor that looks like it's your own, original color."

I wonder how these products would work when you want to dye your entire moustache into a completely different shade? Has anyone tried Just For Men for that purpose?

I don't think colouring your moustache is a good idea. You should accept yourself as you are and - even it's nicer elsewhere - change your plans. Find a "natural" way to do things and you'll be happy, I'm sure.
