"A Handlebar Moustache is indeed a glorious facial hair feature. Whether it stands alone or crowns some other form of facial hair, the glory comes from it being a 'Handlebar' and not simply an ordinary moustache." - Schnauzer

Wax: Bounder

Maker's Web site/product details
http://www.mr-wax.com/

Amount and price
The wax comes in three 10g tins for £9.99 +p&p.

Reviewer’s climate
Northern England, quite damp and windy.

Reviewer's Moustache style(s)
Both tightly curled and flowing, Hungarian style

Consistency and firmness

The wax is very hard in the tin and requires warming before application. It sets up very firm in the moustache with a slight stickiness to hold the hairs together.

Application and visibility
I warm the wax with a hair dryer in the tin, then use a fingernail to remove a small amount, rub it between finger and thumb and then onto the moustache. I must do this very quickly as the wax is slightly tacky and if it cools too much pulls out hairs. I then use a hairdryer and comb for even distribution.

There is rarely any frosting, though I do sometimes see the wax if I’ve put in more than usual.

Durability
The wax holds well all day in whatever style I’ve chosen for the day, and holds up well to strong winds.

Bounder’s greatest weakness is its water solubility. Precipitation will dissolve it, as will condensation from my breath on a cold day. Because of this I only use Bounder on the ends.

Additional thoughts and conclusions

The ingredients are Beeswax, Caribbean navy rum, gum arabic, water, glycerine soap, vanilla extract, natural preservative. Its scent is very strong with the rum and vanilla scent. While I found it overpowering at first, I soon became used to it and barely ever noticed it.

Bounder is a very good wax with exceptional hold and a fine, if strong, fragrance. It will work with both tightly twisted and more natural styles and holds up during the day. The only downside is its not holding up in wet weather, though this does mean it washes out easily, which some may find desirable.

The rest of the contents can be found above and are discussed in detail in the following thread:

Amount and price:
3 x 10g screw-top tins for £9.99 + £1.00 postage & packaging.

Reviewer’s climate:
London - Reviewed in Winter January 2011. Cold but dry. (-5deg c to 10 deg c)

Reviewer's Moustache style(s):
Small flowing Handlebar/Hungarian

Consistency and firmness:
The the appearance of a creamy latte (looks almost good enough to drink) but is firm to the touch.

Application and visibility:
Can be extracted with the finger if subjected to enough warming however in my cold bathroom, needs to be extracted with the back of the fingernail.
Rolls well between the fingers and has a matt appearance in the moustache if the correct quantity is applied. I then combed through. Of note is that I didn't require a hairdryer to aid with application however I guess this is personal preference and would probably be useful if you've applied too much.
Took me a few days to get the ammount applied correct however when applied in the correct ammount, is almost impossible to detect.
The only way someone would know that you're wearing this wax is by the awesome shape given to your handlebar. Suits my flowing style well.

Durability:
Needed a touch up at lunch to tame the strays and didn't hold up to well when I was subjected to an almost horizontal rain shower but I wouldn't have expected anything less as it's a water soluble product that washes out in the shower. This should not put you off trying this product.

Additional thoughts and conclusions:
Wholeheartedly recommend and I very much doubt that you'd be disappointed with this wax.
The best thing about Bounders, apart from the almost undetectable appearance, is the smell. It is easily the best smelling wax that I have. The Caribbean Rum transports you to somewhere far more exotic than you actually are and I found that the smell does last pretty much as long as the wax is in (which I like).
Also of note is the extreme ammount of pride and thought to the end-user that Mr Wax has put into his product. I decided to try this wax based on Mr-Wax's openness about the contents of his product on this forum and was not disappointed.
The thought that has gone into the packaging far surpasses anything that I've ever received in the post and makes me want to order more just to relive the experience of opening the package again.
