"A Handlebar Moustache is indeed a glorious facial hair feature. Whether it stands alone or crowns some other form of facial hair, the glory comes from it being a 'Handlebar' and not simply an ordinary moustache." - Schnauzer

Anyone interested in the Alaska Beard competiton can purchase tickets in Anchorage at Dooleys costume rentals, Party World and online at Ticketmasters.com-key word is "Miners and Trappers Ball" This will be our 58th year. We are so delighted to have quite a few people from the states planning on joining us this year! So come watch the sled dog races and other great winter events during Fur Rondy week and the starting of Iditarod 2008 sled dog race to Nome, Alaska.

My apologies at the time of the posting it was our 58th year of our beard competition in Alaska known as the "Mr. Fur Face beard championship" -where we crown the state champ! Now we are fast approaching our 59th year in existence and the theme this year is "Miners & Trappers Ball 49 turns 50", Alaska being the 49th state and this year turned 50 years old.

This is the main venue where members of the Southcentral Alaska Beard & Moustache Club get together high light of the year and as well as elections and fun.
The event was created when our home was a territory by members of the International Lions Club-Anchorage chapter as something to do in the heart of winter
and with hard work continues on many more years we hope!
