The Handlebar Club Forum

"A Handlebar Moustache is indeed a glorious facial hair feature. Whether it stands alone or crowns some other form of facial hair, the glory comes from it being a 'Handlebar' and not simply an ordinary moustache." - Schnauzer

Wouldn't it be nice to have a 19th Century moustache gallery on the HBC Website with impressive 'taches.

Many advantages:
1. It would be an inspiration for all of us (great period of time for moustaches)
2. The photos would be centralized on a single server and the collection could be completed by all interested people (treasures on an unknow PC are of no help)
3. The photos would be free of rights.
4. The photos would not be lost for posterity.

What do you think? Who from the forum would have the necessary rights to implement that or would know somebody influent enough to do that?

Here's a link to a Blog that may be of interest.

And another:

"While it is a wonderful thing to talk about the past, it should be noted that the fine art of the proper mustache has grown so distant that practitioners can face very real prejudice in their day to day lives.
The American Mustache Institute is dedicated to fighting on their side."

Great Links.

You can spend a long time in the first link if you go into "Opportunities to Revisit the Past"

Here's another seperate one I came across today about Sir Henry Wellcome. You'll find lots of great references in this also.

Sir Henry certainly had what would be defined as a facespanner.

Definately worth getting the RSS feed for this one - good find.

But what are all of those other moustache blogs he mentions on today's post? I've never heard of any of them before.

Those are some of the best pictures I've seen of turn if the centuary moustaches. GREAT link. Thanks. One thing that I really like about the pictures is that it seems that even back then men had "bad moustache" days. Kind of makes me feel better when mine doesn't turn out like I want it some days. Then again it seems I get most of my compliments on days when I think it looks it worst ;-).
