Greetings everyone!! I'm a new member from the U.S. Im 18 and have been growing a goatee since I was maybe 15 and always had a terrible dirt stache. After no shave november my stache was still rather pathetic but I decided to keep it and maybe turn it into something. i searched all over the internet for some small thin mustache styles i could aim for. thinking that a handlebar mustache was what Hulk Hogan sported I originally stayed away from this site. However, I found a few images of small handlebars that linked to here and I made the mental correction. After looking around a little and reading through the wax FAQ section I purchased some Firehouse Tacky wax and have been sporting a little handlebar for maybe two or three weeks now.

Here are some pics for everyone.

And a few that show off cheek and neck growth along with the profile of the goatee.

Just thought I'd share my girl with you (my stache's name is Lucille). Im interested in any tips you guys are willing to share on how to help growth in length and fullness, waxing techniques, and other facial hair related tid-bits.

thanks guys!!

P.S. Moderators if this thread is misplaced please move it to the proper section

Welcome, Rochey. You have a fine moustache. I've seen all sizes and yours holds its own. Be patient and it will likely thicken up over the years as well. No way to make it grow faster or thicker. It will do what your genetics tell it to. Don't over do the wax. Use it to control and shape a bit rather than to plaster it down. You may find some useful info on my blog as well. Hang in there. Just never trim it. Let it grow out and see what it will do the coming months. Mine took 6 mos to get to full thickness.

It's coming along and sadly there are no mustache enhancing drugs that I am aware of (is there "juicing" in the WBM competition world?!). Personally I would let it grow as much as possible before any shaving and really, the less trimming the better (but it's hard when you want to eat soup or an ice cream cone). Found and cropped a shot from HS graduation (I started mine growing in senior year at 17).Image

thanks guys! i know just to let it grow im not in a rush :) i only trim the corners of my mouth cause there are a few hairs that i dont get in the stache and just look awful. And i plan on not shaving for quite a while lol. i was just curious if there was anything you guys do to take care of them? my facial hair is all very coarse and wirey so i was wondering if there was some way to make it softer or straighter.

Conditioner. I have been using Head & Shoulders (cause it comes in 99 cent sample size) and then use conditioner. Depending on your hair type you may have to try different conditioners. Not sure about straighter. I have a full beard and it gets weird curls in it I have yet to tame though I brush it daily which seems to help a bit.
I wouldn't worry about the corners. I don't trim anything regularly in my beard. You get used to having hair there.
Good luck, AndyB, NH.

Rochey,
Welcome to the forum.
Looking good, much more coverage than I had at 18!
This is probably as close to 'juicing' as you'll get but be under no illusion that it's anything more than a multi-vitamin.

I'm 22, I have been growing for almost 1 year and the size is almost the same since 6 months I think. Keep going, your moustache looks already good. The really fun part is playing and having fun with it.

Absolutely keep it up. I had nothing to speak of at 18 (well, I shaved what I had, so who knows?), so you're ahead of the game already.

Just think of how great the stache will be when you are 28... or 38...
